Bengali Khichuri-Chapter 27

Whole Garam Masala
  • 2-3 Bay Laeaves
  • 2-3 dried Red Chillies
  • 1 tblspn cloves,cinnamon,cardamom
  • 1/4 tspn Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 tspn turmeric
  • 1 tspn Sugar
  • 1 tspn salt
  • 11/2 Cups Rice
  • 2 Cups Moong Daal
  • 2 tblspns Green Peas or mixed vegetables
  • 1-2 Potatoes cut half
  • 1 tblspn ghee
  • ​1 tspn finely chopped Ginger
  • 2 green chillies

Method Of Preparation -Add two burger patties for non vegetarian eaters just grill them 3 minutes per side till juicy melt mozarella cheese on them.
 Roast the moong daal in a pan.Stir till it turns golden brown.Once the ghee melts add the phoron,or whole garam masala the cinnamon sticks,cumin seeds,ginger,red chillies,bay leaves.Crush whole spices,melt the ghee.Add the cauliflower florets,stir to ensure the vegetables are coated in the spices.Add the water,and then the moong daal should be added and come to a boil.Spread the daal and mix well.The last step is to add the peas.​Add the sugar,turmeric powder,green chillies .Add 1 cup water,and then two cups.Mix well till a thin consistency.The water should be above the level of Rice and Daal.
